Afghanistan crisis: UK lawmakers grill PM Johnson, condemn Biden over US withdrawal

British lawmakers vented their anger on Wednesday at Prime Minister Boris Johnson and U.S. President Joe Biden over the collapse of Afghanistan back into Taliban hands, calling it a failure of intelligence, leadership and moral duty. Barely a minute into his opening address, Johnson faced a critical interruption from a member of his own Conservative Party, setting the tone for what would be a skeptically-received speech about how Britain wanted to be at the heart of an international coalition holding the Taliban to account. British Labour Leader Keir Starmer said that Prime Minister Boris Johnson's judgement on Afghanistan had been “appalling” while former prime minister Theresa May, a Conservative Party colleague of Johnson, asked how Britain could have so miscalculated the strength of the Taliban, which took Kabul on Sunday in a lightning offensive. The speed of the Taliban's gains after U.S.-led forces withdrew the bulk of their troops from Afghanistan surprised the West, leaving many nations having to scramble to get their diplomats and Afghans who had helped them out of the country. Several lawmakers on Wednesday focused on the U.S. decision to withdraw - a move which Johnson admitted left Britain with no choice but to pull out its own forces - and Biden's subsequent criticism of Afghan forces' surrendering to the Taliban. The Taliban’s Message to President Biden | VICE on SHOWTIME

On February 29, 2020, the United States signed a peace deal with the Taliban to end America’s longest war. The historic agreement was intended to create a pathway towards peace in Afghanistan, but one year later, violence in the country has reached an all-time high. Under the 2020 peace deal, the U.S. agreed to withdraw all troops by May 2021 if the Taliban upholds its commitment to reduce violence against Afghan forces, cut ties with terror groups like al Qaeda, and begin negotiating with the Afghan government on a power sharing arrangement. So far, negotiations with the Afghan government are at a stalemate, and some fear the U.S. withdrawal only empowers the Taliban to take power back by force. VICE News’ Hind Hassan travels deep inside Taliban-controlled Afghanistan to speak with civilians and fighters and see what the future of Afghanistan could look like now that American troops are leaving after more than 19 years of war. Bumbling Biden ‘gets lost’ on way to White House after ignoring Secret Service agent

GAFFE-PRONE Joe Biden appeared to “get lost” when returning to the White House as he ignored his Secret Service agent’s instructions by walking on the lawn. The bumbling Democrat was captured walking on the presidential estate after spending time in Delaware. Video shows Biden following his agents up the lawn to the White House. An agent is seen pointing a finger, ordering Biden to turn right but the president seems to ignore his instructions. Biden then trundles across the lawn as he appears to take the long route back to the residence. He gives a thumbs-up as he makes his way into the White House. Critics were quick to blast Biden after the footage went viral. Josh Barnett, who is running for Congress in Arizona, tweeted: “Go here – points where to go… Biden walks straight ahead.” Former White House press secretary Sean Spicer posted: “Watch this footage carefully.” Some Twitter users joked that a “robotic-looking” Biden had not been “programmed correctly”. Others were left baffled why a Secret Service agent had to point out the path. Biden, a self-proclaimed "gaffe machine", has made several bloopers since his inauguration in January. Last month, he forgot the reasons why he ran for president as he addressed workers at a Made in America speech in Pennsylvania. The president said he had three reasons why he wanted to run for the White House but only listed two in the gaffe-prone address. Biden said: “When I announced my campaign and not many people took it seriously, I said I was running for three reasons. Here's What Donald Trump Said About Joe Biden's 'Gift' To Taliban, Advises On Hasty Afghanistan Exit

Former US President Donald Trump on August 30 suggested that the left-out American military equipment in Afghanistan should be ‘bombed’ if it is not returned on demand. Trump lashed out at his successor Joe Biden for handling the end of the 20-year-old war in Afghanistan “badly” and “incompetently.” According to Trump, the military equipment should be “demanded” to be returned to the country because it includes “every penny of the $85 billion” in cost. #DonaldTrump #Afghanistan #JoeBiden #RepublicTV Republic Bangla is now LIVE ► https://youtu.be/ZbqFXifTAUw Subscribe to Republic Bangla and press THE BELL ICON to never miss any updates ► http://bit.ly/3c8wPWN Also subscribe to Republic TV & press THE BELL ICON to be updated with the latest news ► http://bit.ly/RepublicWorld Official Website - https://www.republicworld.com/ Republic TV is India's no.1 English news channel since its launch. The Young Black Conservatives of Trump’s America

In October of 2018, hundreds of young conservatives of color met up in Washington, DC, for the first ever Young Black Leadership Summit: a four-day conference that featured speeches from conservative actress Stacey Dash and firebrand Candace Owens, a trip to the White House to hear Trump speak, and a rare chance for young, black Republicans to get together and network IRL. VICE’s Lee Adams went to the summit to talk firsthand with young, black conservatives about what drew them to the Republican party, along with what kind of backlash they’ve faced from the black community for going public with their political views. To find out more about the movement, he also tagged along with Antonia Okafor—an outspoken Second Amendment activist—on a hunting trip in northwestern Iowa with Steve King, a House Rep who’s been widely criticized for his racist comments. Lastly, he met up with Shekinah Geist, a black Republican and budding social media influencer, and sat in on a conversation between her and a group of peers from the local black student union who challenged her on her support for President Trump.
